Nothing feels worse than filling your inventory with rare brainrots, sprinting back to sell them, and then… blue wall of death. All that work, gone. Spawned back at start with nothing.

If you’re tired of dying to tsunamis, this guide is for you. I’m gonna teach you how to read waves, find safe spots, and survive without sacrificing your farming efficiency.

Understanding the Waves

First, let’s talk about what you’re actually dealing with. There are four types of tsunamis:

Wave TypeColorSpeedYour Reaction Time
Super SlowBlueVery slow10+ seconds
MediumYellowNormal speed5-7 seconds
FastOrangeQuick3-4 seconds
ExtremeRedRIP1-2 seconds

The color tells you everything. See blue? You’ve got time to grab a few more brainrots and stroll to safety. See red? Drop everything and run.

Reading the Warning Signs

You won’t always be staring at the ocean. Here’s how to know a wave is coming without looking:

Audio cues:

  • A distinct alarm sound plays
  • This is often faster than visual warnings
  • Turn your sound ON if you haven’t already

Visual cues:

  • Screen shake starts
  • Water level rises in the background
  • Chat announcement: “TSUNAMI INCOMING!”

The feel:

  • After enough deaths, you’ll develop a sixth sense for wave timing
  • Tsunamis roughly come every 60-120 seconds
  • The longer since the last one, the more careful you should be

Where Are the Safe Zones?

Safe zones are those trenches (ditches/gorges) between zones. Every zone transition has one.

The key detail most people miss: You have to actually get BELOW the water level. Jumping into the trench isn’t enough - your character needs to be fully submerged. Crouch or use momentum to get deep.

Trench LocationBetweenTips
Trench 1Common-UncommonBiggest, hard to miss
Trench 2Uncommon-RareSlightly smaller
Trench 3Rare-MythicalGetting tighter
Trench 4Mythical-SecretEasy to overshoot
Trench 5Secret-CelestialSmall, need precision

VIP players: You also get VIP-exclusive safe spots in each zone. Nice perk if you have it.

The Speed Trap

Here’s something that kills a lot of players: high speed makes trenches harder to hit.

When you’re rocking 100+ speed, you can easily overshoot a trench while trying to jump in. The solution:

  1. Start slowing down BEFORE you reach the trench
  2. Don’t wait until the last second
  3. Practice the approach - it’s different at 50 speed vs 150 speed

Think of it like braking in a car. The faster you’re going, the earlier you need to start slowing down.

Survival Strategies That Actually Work

Strategy 1: The Trench Hugger

How it works: Never stray far from a safe zone. Farm the immediate area around each trench.

Pros:

  • Basically never die
  • Great for beginners
  • Low stress

Cons:

  • Limited to what spawns nearby
  • Slower progression

Use this when: Learning the game, having a bad day with deaths, AFK-ish farming

Strategy 2: The Timed Farmer

How it works: Track wave timing. Farm hard right after a wave, then position near safety as the next one approaches.

Pattern guide:

Time Since Last WaveRisk Level
0-30 secondsVery safe
30-60 secondsSafe
60-90 secondsGetting risky
90+ secondsWave is coming

Pros:

  • Maximizes farming time
  • Balanced risk/reward

Cons:

  • Requires attention
  • Timing varies slightly

Use this when: Regular play sessions, pushing to new zones

Strategy 3: The Speed Demon

How it works: With enough speed, you can outrun certain waves back to spawn.

Speed requirements:

Your SpeedCan Outrun
50+Super Slow (blue)
80+Medium (yellow)
120+Fast (orange)
150+Maybe Extreme

Pros:

  • Ultimate freedom
  • Farm anywhere, anytime

Cons:

  • Requires high speed investment
  • Red waves still kill you
  • Risky if you misjudge

Use this when: Late game, maxed speed, confidence is high

Common Ways People Die (And How to Avoid Them)

Death #1: Getting Greedy

The scenario: “Just one more brainrot…” → Wave hits → Dead

The fix: If you have to think about whether you have time, you don’t. Leave.

Death #2: Wrong Direction

The scenario: Running away from the wave instead of toward a trench

The fix: Waves come from behind. Don’t run away - run sideways to the nearest trench.

Death #3: Trench Overcrowding

The scenario: Trench is full of players, you can’t fit in properly

The fix: Know multiple trench locations. If one’s packed, sprint to the next one or to spawn.

Death #4: The Speed Overshoot

The scenario: Going too fast, jump over the trench instead of into it

The fix: Slow down earlier. Approach trenches at walking speed, not sprinting speed.

Death #5: Lag Death

The scenario: You were definitely in the trench but died anyway

The fix: Use less crowded servers or private servers. Enter trenches slightly earlier to compensate for latency.

Pre-Run Safety Checklist

Before each farming run, ask yourself:

  • Where’s the nearest trench from here?
  • How long since the last wave?
  • Is my sound on?
  • Do I have enough speed to reach safety?
  • Am I being too greedy right now?

If you can’t answer these confidently, stick to safer zones until you can.

What Happens When You Die

Just so it’s clear - dying to a tsunami:

  • Respawns you at spawn point
  • You lose ALL carried brainrots
  • Your upgrades and placed brainrots are SAFE
  • Your money is SAFE

It’s annoying, but not game-ending. That said, losing a full inventory of Celestials hurts. Don’t let it happen.

Quick Tips for Each Zone

ZoneSurvival Note
CommonSuper safe, trenches everywhere
UncommonStill easy, good for practice
RareTrenches get smaller, pay attention
MythicalTiming matters more here
SecretYou need to know the trench spots
CelestialHigh risk, know exactly where to go

The Bottom Line

Surviving tsunamis comes down to three things:

  1. Awareness - Know when waves are coming
  2. Positioning - Always have an escape plan
  3. Patience - Never let greed override safety

Master these, and you’ll spend more time farming and less time respawning.
